FanzinEra: successfully moving onwards!

“Memory is selective, unreliable and questionable. There is no “I’ll remember this forever” tool in our brain. I was very happy to receive this book of Carl’s photographs from that time period in Sweden. The book puts names to some of the hazy images that drift around in my head.” (Richard Kern, from the introduction to FanzinEra)
Two months after its release, I’m happy to say that my photobook FanzinEra now has a life of its own. Filled with mementos from my fanzine days, 1985-1988, the book contains images of bands and artists like Iggy Pop, The Cramps, Gun Club, Sonic Youth, Joe Coleman, Lydia Lunch, Union Carbide Productions, Lädernunnan a.k.a. The Leather Nun, Alex Chilton, Lux Interior (The Cramps), Martin Rössel and Lars Cleveman (Dom Dummaste), Kim Salmon (The Scientists), Sator, The Shamen, Ebbot Lundberg (Union Carbide Productions), Steve Kilbey (The Church), The Stomachmouths, Richard Kern, Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Genesis P-Orridge (Psychic TV), Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Bernard Sumner (New Order), Blue For Two, Freddie Wadling, John Lydon, Chris Bailey (The Saints), Sort Sol, Legendary Stardust Cowboy, Died Pretty, The Godfathers, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Henry Rollins, Hüsker Dü, Tim Warren (Crypt Records), Stefan Kéry (The Stomachmouths), Jack Stevenson, Johan Kugelberg, The Nomads, The Creeps, Nick Zedd, Pushtwangers, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, Cornflake Zoo, The Hijackers, Döden, Livingstones, Wylde Mammoths, Survival Research Laboratories, Foetus, Long Ryders, Sonic Walthers, Radium, The Harry Crews, The Psychonauts, The Go-Betweens, Jordi Vallis, Dave Ball... And more!
Press coverage has been great so far. The American edition of VICE ran six pages from the book, and the UK edition ran eight! Reviews in Sonic, DI Weekend, Dagens Nyheter and other magazines have all been positive.
The FanzinEra photo exhibition is ready to rock onwards too. 36 of my favourite images have been produced in an edition of 10 copies, and one set of these constitutes an exhibition that has so far been in Sundsvall, Visby and Stockholm. I would love for it to be shown in other places too, abroad as well as in Sweden. The logistical set-up of this is very easy, so please just e-mail me for more information.
Prints are available for sale, at 1500:- SEK each. The first three copies are available in box sets. These are considerably more expensive, so please e-mail me about them, if genuinely interested.
Would you like to review the book? Same thing here: just e-mail me.
FanzinEra is now available internationally through most major online booksellers like Amazon, etc.
Distribution to the music trade is handled by Subliminal Sounds.
Scandinavian booksellers are handled through Bokrondellen.
You can also buy the book directly from the me, via www.trapart.net I’d be happy to sign the copy for you.
